WLAN-access in areas with radioactive pollution

Hi,
I'm currently planning to extend our WLAN environment since our institute is expanding. We're doing heavy ion research and the scientists want to have WLAN-access in the accelerator areas during shutdown periods.
During beamtime, there is radioactivity in the accelerator tubes, also at the target areas, so I assume the AccessPoints would just melt away. Now my question is, are there external antennas available which are
a) able to stand the radiation and
b) have a pretty long cable so we could hide the AP in some kind of concrete bunker and only the antenna would be in the hazardous areas?
Or do we simply have to keep some extra APs at stock to put them into the accelerator tube (once the radiation is gone) on occasion?

I am curious to see what other responses you get here. I don't have any direct personal experience with the type of environment you describe, but I would be inclined to pursue your last option -- keep spare APs on hand to place into the accelerator tube once the radiation is gone.

thanks for your response. I'm curious too and certainly hope someone has some similar experience and a good solution. I know CERN solved it somehow, but it will be next spring when i get the opportunity to visit with them and learn how they did it.

Lenya, what are the expected radiation values? There are various enclosures on the market available (I suppose CERN used something like that) for various environments.
