I would like to know what VAP stands for and what it is in relations to the following set of error messages.
(34)Sta(at if=wifi0.4) is de-authenticated because of VAP shut down
(35)Sta(at if=wifi0.4) is de-authenticated because of notification of driver

A VAP is a SSID. Maybe you lost the signal or you have an issue with roaming ?

Hi both,

It stands for Virtual Access Point.

APs that support this allow more than one BSS (Basic Service Set) to operate on the same radio at the same time.

In practice, each VAP on a radio will be part of a separate ESS (Extended Service Set) and therefore will have a different (E)SSID.

You will see that message where a BSS is shutdown on a radio. It is informational and not an error message.

Thanks,

Nick

Eric the reason I said that was an error message is that it appears in client monitor with the driver message just before a client deauths.  I assumed this was some kind of connection critical program?  We are trying to trouble shoot client deauths which are usually apple ios devices that deauth and then reconnect about every 5 min. that is the onl;y failure besides the driver statement and the are in red in client monitor.  Are you saying that VAP is turned off on the AP if so how do I find this in HMOL and turn it on?

Hi Ralph,

What HiveOS version are you using? What AP model(s)?

I should perhaps have been clearer, the message is itself informational and not an error but if you see it occurring unexpectedly it can be indicative of a fault.

Regards,

Nick

Hmol 6.6r3a  ap130,ap230, ap121  We have failures when we update the AP past HiveOS 6.5r3a Honolulu.2530  ver 5.0.0  the Ios devices start to drop sporadically. The problem does not seem to effect win or android devices and occurs in stationary Ios devices.

We had interface flapping and Tx Power Control (TCP) issues in the past and they are fixed now.

Please use the latest versions:
AP121 - 6.5r6
AP230 and AP130 - 7.1r1
