Location tracks a user through an area. Proximity is simply a one-time event indicating that a user or device is within a specific range or area of an anchor point.

Put another way: proximity let's you know you're near something, like an iBeacon, but does not provide absolute location using a coordinate system. #iBeaconWebinar

With most end customers, there probably needs to be some training or education to really determine what the customer actually needs. Most of the time, the customer just needs proximity... #iBeaconWebinar

With location, a device (or infrastructure) knows where the device is, with proximity, it knows that it is close to something.  Given both of these contexts, I think there is a huge opportunity to provide both better content to users, and better granularity to apps. #iBeaconWebinar

Proximity is almost defined as the distance between the device and the focal point (iBeacon). Location is the latitudinal or longitudinal positioning of the device connecting to the iBeacon #iBeaconWebinar

Has only used multiple iBeacons to calculate a location inside of a space.  Similar to how GPS works external? #iBeaconWebinar

I'm I correct in saying that a Location example is "Find my Phone"... an exact location is given.  A Proximiy example would be... "Someone with your SDK is within 100 feet of Beacon ID 1234."   #iBeaconWebinar
