Can I buy/get beacons from a bunch of different vendors, test them all, choose the best, and then make them ALL work on one system (Radius, Gimbal, Estimote, other?)

You sure can!  As part of the testing process, you'll want to figure out what's important to you.  There's a lot more to iBeacon than just transmitting packets.

In terms of implementation for businesses or companies that have not developed their own app, what steps or configurations would be needed to utilize default apps or built-in transmission receptions? (eg. bluetooth scan for devices, Facebook "check-in" feature) essentially piggy-backing on another app or already active transmission.  #iBeaconWebinar

You'll need an app that supports iBeacon.  Looking at passbook might be a good way to start.  But honestly, it's not that hard to write code that supports iBeacon.  You might even look at the Radius Networks scavenger hunt application, which was released as open source code: http://developer.radiusnetworks.com/2014/03/25/beacon-scavenger-hunt-released-as-open-source.html

We just recently replaced our Cisco wireless APs with Aerohives 802.11ac APs. Can we use those as iBeacons? #Beaconwebinar
