VoIP configuration - Aerohive NG controller, AP130, spectralink IP phones

Hi All,

Does anyone know how should I configure my HM NG working with several AP130 in one location to work with IP phones? I never did this stuff and have problems to find any information on configuration.

My client wants to use spectralink IP phones (type unknown now).

So I have HM NG configured with Guest, BYOD and 802.1X SSIDs, and it works. So the wifi connectivity is provided etc. I have an ordinary wifi network  now.

I would really appreciate instruction what else to do and take care of.

Hi Arek,

1) The wifi deployment MUST be planned with VoWIFI in mind for good voice quality and specially for roaming, Otherwise you will experience dropping calls and band voice quality. You can do the planning using a tool like Ekahau site survey or the inbuilt planing tool in HMNG,




2) Also look in to enabling features that improve VoIP call quality and roaming,

- Some Spectralink phones I have worked with need UAPSD enabled in the SSID, for power saving 

- Enabling wmm-ac voice if the specific phone supports that (AP130 doesn't support this)

- Enable Voice enterprise if the specific phone supports that
