For power consumption have a look at https://community.aerohive.com/aerohive/topics/hi-can-you-confirm-if-i-can-use-ap230-with-poe802-3af...

How very VLANs do you need to support?  I have completed some very large Aerohive deployments and never run out of VLANs.

Hi Varun,

The AP230 supports up to 4094 VLANs. The AP230 also runs fully functional on standard 802.3af power (15.4W) but if you wish to use the external USB port you will need 802.3at power (25.5W).

The typical power consumption of an AP230 is between 11.41W at 25C and 12.2-12.9-W at 40C (no USB load). With USB load, this jumps to 15.3-16.7W hence the PoE+ requirement. Bear in mind these stats vary depending on load.
