Using Student Manager/Teacher View to Limit Access During State Mandated Online Assessment?

Does anyone have any experience using Student Manager and/or Teacher View to lock down computers to a specific domain for instances where users need to be prevented from accessing additional resources?

In Massachusetts we are planning for a state mandated PARCC assessment and one of the tech requirements is that we completely eliminate students' ability to access any web resource outside of the online test itself. If my understanding of Student Manager is correct, we can use it to do just that. As I am using HMOL and not an on-premesis virtual appliance, though, I have no means to test this.

I'm trying to make the case to support moving to a virtual appliance and Student Manager, and if I had some cases of schools using it this way it would go a long way toward justifying the additional investment.

Thanks again,

Hi Christopher! You can actually do what you want with just TeacherView, which is available with HMOL. You'll get more functionality with StudentManager (things like white listing and integration with your SIS), but you may find TeacherView is enough for what you need for this use case. You can enable it under home-administration-Hivemanager services.
