User Profile Assignment in NG

Moving to NG (cloud) appears to lose a lot of authentication features. Cannot dedicate AP's as RADIUS servers, nor add AD, or LDAP. The only thing I can see that is configurable is RADIUS.... which is fine. I have an issue with user profile assignment with RADIUS, since previous documentation focused on user profile attribute numbers, which NG doesn't use.

Are there any instructions on how to assign profiles based on username/group using RADIUS?
Is there ANY documentation to NG as there was in the training material for Hive6?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, Jeremy. In HiveManager NG, you use a user profile assignment rule based on returned RADIUS attributes. Please see "User Profile Assignment by Returned RADIUS Attributes" starting on p. 40 in Aerohive Large Campus Deployment Architecture Reference at http://docs.aerohive.com/330000/docs/guides/Aerohive_Large_Campus_Deployment_Architecture.pdf. I hope this helps. - Joe

Hi Jeremy, All of the features you mentioned are available in HiveManager NG in Select mode. Are you using Connect, by chance? If you see many of the features grayed out, you can only use external RADIUS.  If you have an entitlement key, you can easily create an AP as a RADIUS server and join it to AD or use an LDAP directory.

Thanks Joe, that's exactly the material I was looking for.

Abby, I was not aware that NG added an additional paid tier to enable features that were previously available to all in Hive6. Is this truly the case? I can't see Aerohive maintaining 2 management platforms, and neither to expect customers to migrate to NG if that is the future, when asking them to pay for features previous available.

Hi Jeremy,

I think you may be seeing this back to front.

HM6 features are paid, not free. What's been added is a new, free tier to HMNG with Connect.

Cheers,

Nick

We're paying for it, i'm on HMOL.
Moving the entitlement keys work fine, but those authentication methods mentioned are not available to configure.

You should be able to migrate to HMNG Select using your HM6 entitlement keys.
