Use of one AP as DHCP Server and Multiple APs as DHCP Clients

Hi,

I have made one AP as DHCP server, I want to make other APs (in the same network) as DHCP clients so that only one AP(Primary DHCP Server) can assign IP address to all the wireless clients connected through other APs also. SSID is same in all the APs but they are on different floors.

Hi Hemang,

I don't see the point to set your other APs as DHCP clients.

Once you do have one DHCP server in your network segment (VLAN), it will handle DHCP discovery requests from your wireless clients.

Cheers,

Hi Fabien,

Thanks for responding, but the issue which I am facing here is when one AP is made as DHCP server, wireless clients are not getting any IP address on other APs.

Do you use the same VLAN on your different floors ? If not, you may have to use DHCP-relay to reach your "DHCP server". In the VLAN are the same, your clients should be able to reach the interface with DHCP you defined.

No all the vlans are different. I used the DHCP relay config but still there were no IP address asssigned to any users.

Could you maybe share your configuration of your related "DHCP Server and Relay" ? I guess you should have one relay per subinterface+VLAN on all your AP and one DHCP server per subinterface+VLAN on your AP managing DHCP ? Have you checked firewall/routing rules as well ?
