Update AP very slow with captive portal

Hi all,

I created a new open SSID, with a user profil which affect the good vlan. Until there, everything is OK.

But when I check the box "Enable captive portal" on the SSID, and I choose a captive portal with Policy acceptence only and no more parameters, the update time for Access points take almost 10 minutes!!!

Have you got an idea?

Hi Amar - this does not sound correct. I haven't seen this issue myself, nor have others reported it, but this means that perhaps the best way to proceed is to talk with a support engineer here at Aerohive. Opening a case will enable a bug to be filed, if needed, and if it's not a bug, they'll be able to help you with your config as a whole. From what you describe above, though, things should be fine. Are you pushing a full config, or a delta? I'd try a full config update, first.

Amar,
I suspect you only will see the slowdown in updating the AP once, during the initial push of the CWP pages and creating their directory structure on your AP. Do you still see a slowdown for any subsequent changes to the device config?

Hi all,

I have some news..

I had seen that if my AP is on the same subnet than the Manager, I have no problem!
But i would like to create a Vlan dedicated to my AP.

However, i had put an AP on the same router than my Manager, so there is no routing between them, and the problem is the same.
The router is a 3COM, and the port where my AP is linked is on trunk port with a "permit vlan all"...

Do i have something to parameter on the router/switch port? My POE switchs are 3COM too

I'm opening a case..
