I have Guest users complaining that the Guest VLAN is disconnecting them after an undetermined amount of time.   Is there a setting that controls this?

Hi Bill,

Without knowing the method of authentication being used on your guest network then it is difficult to say. Can you please let me know whether you are using PPSK, a CWP or one of your Aerohive Devices as a RADIUS server? All of these use a registration/reauthorization time that would match the behavior your describe.

If you are using a CWP (of any type), expand "Optional Advanced Configuration" and check the "Registration Period". by Default the registration period is 720 minutes, or 12 hours, after which your guest users would be presented with the CWP page again to either accept or log in again depending on the CWP type in use.

If you have one of your Aerohive devices configured to be a RADIUS server using its own local user directory (NOT Active Directory/LDAP), then I would check the reauthorization time on the Local User Group

The same goes for both automatic and manual PPSK

Lastly, if you are using some combination of the above, then I would recommend making sure that the reauthorization and reassociation times match, otherwise your CWP could prompt for reauthorization before your RADIUS/PPSK authentication's reassociation time and vice versa.

Hope this helps

Thank you!   It was a local user group.  We are using an AP as the Radius Server.

can you confirm if your using the CWP along with open / guest access if you can limit the guest to one hours usage and then stop them from being able to login again for another two hours?
