Tablet devices have trouble with roaming between AP's. Can we disable AP roaming for a SSID?

On a customer side (primary school) they are using Tablets wich, according to the company they got them from, do not support roaming between AP's.

Is there a way to disable roaming between AP's for the Tablet SSID?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Berry

It is the device that makes roaming decisions, so if they do not support it, I think they just will not do the roaming procedure and will stick on the current AP. Pitty there are tablets that do not support roaming ;).

If i am right, the AP's push clients over when they are closer ro another AP?
Problem is that the tablets keep getting disconnected.

The client will contact the AP that provide in a better connection by a reassociation request. The new AP will contact the current AP by the distribution medium to tell that the client wants to roam and to provide the buffered data, afterwards the client is reassociated to the new AP. It starts however at the client.

There are however several options on the AP which encourage band use and distribution of clients in several different ways. If these are enabled they may conflict with clients that "don't support roaming". That is actually fairly remarkable for any relatively current clients. Just out of curiosity what are they? Of course if they dont support roaming and move between APs then the user expereince will be disconnect/reconnect.
