Wondering if I can get a status on iOS printing in Bonjour Gateway?

I see some posts from a few months ago saying coming soon, don't know if it is available yet?

Maybe I need to upgrade something? Looks like I am running V5.1r2 although I don't know what would need to be done to upgrade.

Thanks,

Karl P

I have tested the Bonjour Gateway with the 6.0r2 firmware (http://community.aerohive.com/aerohiv...) and my Windows 7 SP1 laptop running the Bonjour Browser and Bonjour Printing Services can detect the Bonjour capable printers but my iPad 2 running iOS 6.1.3 cannot. This is consistent with what we saw with the 5.1r5 firmware.

With the large number of threads on the AirPrint/iOS issue it is obviously adversely affecting a large number of deployments.

By the same token, there are a number of people reporting success. So while I don't doubt there are some struggles, I would like to get on a later software version and try myself.

I would love to talk to anybody who has got AirPrint working with iOS 6 devices. The fact that non-iOS devices can communicate with devices via AirPrint but iOS 6 devices can't seems to imply an issue with the Bonjour Gateway and/or iOS 6.

Actually, upon further review, I believe I know what needs to happen to make this work.

I got ahold of someone else who was able to make it work by upgrading to 5.1r5 or later firmware and then adding *._raop._tcp. in the redirects. To be clear working means native printing support on iOS 6.X

I will start a new topic asking how to upgrade firmware for bonjour gateway. I only see 5.1r2 in my Monitor->Devices->(select Gateway check box)->UpdateDropdown-> Upload and Active HiveOS software -> HiveImage dropdown box.

Thanks,

I believe that *._raop_tcp. (Remote Audio Output Protocol) is a requirement for AirPlay rather than AirPrint. I have a 5,1r5 site with *._raop_tcp enabled for AirPlay, which works perfectly, but they are unable to locate Bonjour capable printers. At the same site the Windows devices running the Bonjour Browser can locate the Bonjour capable printers.

Hey Karl
I have 'heard' that at this point we need to contact Aerohive Support to be fast-tracked to the 6.x.x update. The update icon apparently won't show up in HiveManager for a week or so. Again this is from a colleague, not from Aerohive officially. I'll be requesting the update later today myself.

The update was released earlier this week. After applying it all works well now.

Thanks!
