Single SSID dropping client connections

Good morning All,

So I have recently implemented Aerohive NG with a AP250 estate, I have three SSID's and one of them is being a bit of a problem network.

The network in question is a self registration SSID for staff so it's basically BYOD. We are seeing a lot of devices disconnecting randomly and then having to be reconnected manually. The issue mainly affects iPhones but there is the odd windows mobile that suffer the same issue.

The AP's are running OS 7.1r1 and run radio profiles for 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz.

Apologies for the summary been a little vague, I am new to the NG product.

Cheers

Hi Danny,

A couple of questions;
  1. does this happen on all AP's?
  2. does this happen on both 2.4 and 5GHz radios?
  3. when the client drop; do all clients on that AP drop or just a single client?
  4. is it only the self-reg SSID that is affected?
  5. How long are the clients connected for before they drop? is it random?
Thanks,
Gary

  1. does this happen on all AP's?
Yes this happens on all AP's
  1. does this happen on both 2.4 and 5GHz radios?
This happens with both 2.4 & 5Ghz radios (tested by removing and using 1 at a time)
  1. when the client drop; do all clients on that AP drop or just a single client?
This is isolated to single clients on the AP, random clients each time.
  1. is it only the self-reg SSID that is affected?
Yes this issue only affects the self-registration SSID
  1. How long are the clients connected for before they drop? is it random?
It is random, some fall off completely within a couple of minutes and others stay connected             but have to authenticate again

Hi Danny,

Assuming that you are using HMNG in the Cloud, can you add me as an external admin so that I can look at the config? gsmith@aerohive.com

Thanks,
Gary
