I recently upgraded to 6.1r5HMOL and whern it restarted, it hung. Did anyone else encounter this issue? I did the upgrade by downloading the upgrade from within HMOL and kicking it off from within as well.

This is expected while the database is being upgraded. Just be patient!

Jakob is correct that many people often think the system is hung up at that point after an upgrade but usually you only need to wait longer for it complete. Did your upgrade complete successfully?

Ye the upgrade completed successfully. I have since been informed that this particular upgrade has taken a really long time to start up, (1-2 hoursa). In the past, this has not been the case. I will do the upgrade again and leave it overnight.

This will happen with an on-premise HiveManager when you have a very large number of events in the event log and you perform a "Full Update", which preserves all this event data.

In order for the upgrade to easily accommodate database schema changes (or indeed a complete change in the underlying database softare if necessary!) between versions, the entire configuration and event/alarm database gets exported to an XML file and then re-imported into the database after the upgrade and this process can take well over an hour if you have hundreds of thousands of events. If you don't need to retain the events, then clearing the prior to performing the upgrade (using the radio button "Update and clear the alarm and event logs") should make the upgrade take much less time (typically around 10-15 minutes depending on the size of the configuration).

If you are seeing the upgrade take this long and you ARE selecting to clear the alarm and event logs, then something is awry - in my experience of having performed dozens of upgrades at different customers, provided this option is taken, the upgrade only takes around 10-15 minutes to complete.

Note that you can also limit the amount of historical data that is stored generally in HiveManager in Report Settings.
