Renaming or Deleting Captive Web Portal Profile

To Aerohive HiveNation Community,

Is there a way to either rename or delete a captive web portal profile? In configuring an SSID, when "Enable a captive web portal with use policy acceptance" is selected, a list of captive web portals profiles that were created appears in a drop down menu. I had created a profile which I would like to rename to correspond with our SSID profile, but I cannot seem to find that option. Even when I attempt to modify the captive web portal, the name cannot be edited.

Thanks,
Louis Huang

Sorry, no, you cannot rename an object after it has been created. You can Clone it to a new name matching your SSID profile, then reference that newly cloned object. Don't forget to clean up behind yourself and delete the no-longer-needed objects.

I have always found this limitation somewhat strange from a software engineering and design perspective as I would gave have though it made sense to give new objects a GUID when they are created, the value used to link and bind, and also have a friendly name that is human readable and changeable without impact. You would still impose uniqueness constraints on the friendly name. Such a model should be relatively easy to retrofit too.
