Register AP through Mesh Link

Our plans for extending our physical network to a location fell through and we are now looking into using the mesh capabilities to get wireless into this area. The APs were not configured in Hivemanger before being mounted, so they have a factory default config. Is it possible to enable mesh through a console command and have them connect to a AP that is already in Hivemanager to register?
Another option we have thought of was to use a laptop. Bridge the wireless with the ethernet port and connecting the AP to the laptops ethernet port.
Would either of these be possible?

once you connect an AP with factory default settings, it try to establish a mesh link with another AP (also in factory default). If you can't do it, just let the portal AP talk to hive0:

hive hive0
interface mgt0 hive hive0

be aware you will break your current configuration&service. Do a small lab in order to test it before.
