Its been said that its akin to Ethernet switches versus Ethernet Hubs.  Its hard to determine and its going to depend on the use case.

Here is a video by Matthew Gast that explains it in more detail (Possibly you could see if it would benefit you):  http://blogs.aerohive.com/blog/enterprise-networking/80211ac-video-series-multi-user-mimo

Depends on the type of AP and number of Radios but you can login in to sites like CDW or even the Apple Store and find our prices.

Is 802.11ac going to increase the size of the code sent to the APs?  I have 120's through 340's now.  Will they be able to handle any increase in capabilities or the programming?

The HiveOS image version supported should have all APs supported.  If there is an issue you should contact customer support.

I am primarily deploying small Wifi for Retail POS in locations that are typically seeing 10-20 access points in range. So, throughput performance is an issue( for the POS in particular), but this market segment is very price sensitive. What is the recommended deployment for POS and BYOD in small retail space in congested Wifi reception area? #InforneticsWebinar

Its already in laptops, Android phones, and some Android devices.  I think speculation is that the iPhone will bring it to the tipping point because iPhone is late AND iPhone makes technology top-of-mind for many consumers.

For one, the marketing department in general are better looking. :)

We've also completely distributed the processing and have more robust (read Deep Packet Inspection) application management which is needed to control application priority and security enforcement.  Meraki still depends on the cloud for some of the fine-grain control elements of the APs making it critical to maintain your cloud connection for full operation.

Aerohive has been built from the ground up for enterprise deployments and our object-orient policy management is far more intuitive if you have distributed offices.

Cisco is slowly absorbing Meraki (you'll notice the Meraki name is gone from the product except for the FCC bottom label) so I would expect more and more to change over time.  Thats just how Cisco does it.
