Can You please give Us advice/help on how to configure a network policy with appropriate QoS settings when giving priority to VOIP. (using AP 330).

No luck finding documentation or samples o how to use/configure QoS Settings on Aerohive devices.

Not sure how to modify/use QoS Settings , Rate Control & Queuin etc..

Thank You.

There are three/four things you need to configure for voice:

  1. Classifier Map
  2. Marker Map
  3. Call Admission Control
  4. SIP Application Layer Gateway (if utilising SIP)

Create a classifier map (Configuration -> Advanced Configuration -> QoS Policies -> Classifier Maps) that places SIP traffic (network services) into the QoS class "6 - Voice". If you are running a single brand of voice-only device you could also create a MAC OUI object with that manufacturer's OUI and create a MAC OUI rule placing traffic from wireless clients with that MAC OUI into the QoS class "6 - Voice".

Create a marker map (Configuration -> Advanced Configuration -> QoS Policies -> Marker Maps) that matches the QoS classes (particularly QoS class 6) to the correct 802.1p and/or DSCP values for your switching infrastructure.

The classifier and marker maps are assigned to the network policy in the Additional Settings/QoS Settings area.

Call Admission Control is enabled in the Configuration -> Network Policies -> Additional Settings -> Service Settings -> Management Options area. Call admission control is loosely load balancing for voice.

The Application Layer Gateway is enabled in the Configuration -> Network Policies -> Additional Settings -> Service Settings -> ALG Services area. Ensure that the application layer gateway settings has the SIP application layer gateway enabled and mapped to the QoS class "6 - Voice".
