Hi,

Is there any way to auto-provision APs that are added to a Hive network?

I'm thinking of something like a large retail roll-out where it would be useful to be able to plug in a new AP and in addition to finding HM, it would have its policy assigned too. Perhaps this could be achieved using something like DHCP a option that contains a policy name?

Thanks

Nigel.

Hello Nigel,

To clarify... I believe you are looking for an option that will allow your organization to take an AP out of the box and plug it in and it will automatically pull an IP and load a configuration before rebooting and coming on-line to support clients with no additional administrative efforts. Do I understand correctly?

Yes something like that is what I was thinking of.

Nigel,

Unless I'm reading your question wrong. Look at Configuration > Show Nav (on the left). You'll see Auto Provisioning on that menu.

Just taking a look at it now! That looks just like what I am after.

Thanks for the replies on this, much appreciated.

Guess I'll have to hunt a little harder in the manual in future :)

No prob! That's what HiveNation is for! As you mentioned, this can be awesome for large roll out or roll outs where you are shipping access points/branch routers to offsite locations.
