Problems with the CWP

Every couple of weeks I need to delete the captive web portal pages from about 10% of our APs and push a config out because the CWP is not served to any client connected to our guest SSID A couple of weeks later another group of APs exhibit this behavior.  Refreshing the CWP directory always fixes the problem.  Has anyone else experienced this issue?  What was your fix for it?

Hi Dawn, it's very odd...are all the 10% of APs in the same hardware pool? I suggest to rise a case to support in order to investigate this strange behaviour. Just export the tech data (select the AP, Utilities -> Get tech data) and attach to the case number.
Ciao

None of our customers has reported any issues with CWP in the latest versions. There was an issue in ealier versions where the web server process would lock up and prevent CWP from working. If left, file descriptors would run out and all kinds of other problems would occur. Haven't had any customers complain about CWP since this issue was fixed and we have quite a few customers with different configurations.

How are you using CWP?

We are using the CWP for our student SSID.  The CWP should be served after assoc. so the user can provide their AD creds.  We have 121s, 330s, and 170's on the latest firmware with this issue.  Is there a way for me to test for the behavior that you mention and/or troubleshoot the webserver process?

There is, but you're probably best off logging a support call as it may not be the same issue and I don't want to send you down a blind alley. We have several customers using CWP in the same way as you, and a couple of them use the same AP models as you, but reports of issues (which were occurring intermittently with about the same frequency as you describe) do seem to have dried up since the latest versions of code (6.4r1d for example).

We use the CWP for students that auth over RADIUS to AD. Currently we are experiencing a number of issues. One is Error #500 from off brand Android devices, the second is Windows 10 doesnt seem to like our config. Its hit or miss if the device will acquire a a new address after successfully logging in.
At this point we are looking to remove the CWP.
