Problem with iPhones and HangOut (Google)

Dear:
I hope someone can help me.

None of the iPhones (iOS 6.1.2) we have in the company can connect with each other via hangout when they are connected to any of the AP 120 (5.1r4) that we distributed by the company.
These iPhones can connect seamlessly to Hangout being connected over 3G.

With Android (4.1.2 and 4.2.2) we have no problem to connect.

Could you help me find where is the problem?

Best regards,
David.

David,

Strange. So everything else works fine? Did it work prior to your Aerohive deployment?

I'll install Google Hangout and see if I can get it working using Aerohive, and report back.

Have you try with Hangout on iPad?, I've seen before that sometimes the same software works on iPads but it doesn't on iPhones. At least that will isolate the problem.

Also you would check proxy configurations if you have it, I'd have a couple of issues with applications that doesn't use (or use) iOS proxy configuration as app's proxy configuration, and that's more like an app issue rather than a Wi-Fi issue.

I've tested hangout on an AP 121 mesh point which is connected to an AP 330 mesh portal and it worked!

I've tried with iPad2 and I could not.

It seems that this is a problem for iOS level.

Do you know where I can start looking in the Aerohive settings to fix the problem?

Best regards!

This is just for kicks, but do you have a Mac available that can be hooked into wired ethernet? Could this problem possibly be related with settings on your firewall? To help isolate the problem, we could set up a Mac to share the wired LAN as a WiFi network and then try to use Hangout on the iPhone/iPad.

We have a MacBook Pro and can connect to HangOut using wire and using the AP 120.

Sharing the Wi-Fi from my mobile, Apple devices can connect to hangout.

Best regards.

Brian Ambler and I spent about 20 minutes testing this... tried to connect with Hang-out

iPhone4-----iPhone5 (Didn't work)
iPhone5-----PC (Worked)

I'll run more tests when I get some time and provide an update.

We surrender... we have created a new policy, a new SSID, a new profile and we are unable to operate the Hangout.

Any idea?

Thanks and best regards,
David.

Hello David (TAPi),

If you believe the Aerohive AP is blocking traffic, please enter a support case with your service provider and we will look into the possibility.
