We have a customer that has a AP170 mounted to an outside red brick wall. They're wanting to paint it so it doesn't stand out as much since it is on the front side of the building. Any suggestions?

You can choose to paint a AP170. However, care must be taken to ensure it is a non-metallic paint to avoid any unintended interference or attenuation.

Additionally it should be noted that although AP170 is a robust outdoor rated AP, painting it with a darker color in an outdoor sunny environment will make it heat up faster than an AP that comes with the Aerohive standard color.

We never recommend the antennas be painted because it will reduce performance to some degree. We especially don't recommend metallic paints.

Yes you can, but a couple of points of caution:
1)first is absolutely don't paint the antennas, it will lower performance
2)if sun will shine on the unit, it will likely overheat. The sun heating can double or even triple with even slightly darker paint.
3) this is just something to know, this does void you warranty - but that may be a risk you are willing to take.

A better choice is often to hide the units behind something and run low loss cables to the antennas in a more visible place.
