Mounting AP adjacent to support beam?

Our Aerohive Vendor is currently installing 106 AP230 units in our 6-story school building. These are replacing 5-year-old A****a 802.11bgn APs, which were often mounted to the suspended ceiling 12" on-center from a steel-reinforced concrete beam:
The installation sub-contractor is preferring to mount the APs as photographed, where the old units were mounted. Will this create dispersion concerns? I presume it would be preferred to mount on the underside of the beam?

Yes. Yes it would be better to mount to the underside of the beam if possible.
