mesh maximum distance between to APs

I'd like on an industrial site to connect to AP in mesh mode, what is the maximum distance outdoor between the 2 AP that is suported ?

That depends on the antennas you use and the throughput you want to get. With the directional 5GHz antennas from Aerohive, 5GHz radios configured for Mesh only and clear line of sight (google "Freznel Zone") you should be able to get reasonable rates over 300m and even more. Expect a reduction with fog, heavy rain and snowfall.


You also want to check for interferencies caused by radar, heavy machinery, power lines etc.


I recommend a POC, let it run for a few days and monitor the connection rates.

Like Carsten says, it depends.....what is important is the minimum RSSI to keep the link up and we strongly recommend that you maintain at least -68dBm. link can be established at -72dBm, but you need some margin for the weather. With the high gain antenna you can have a link over couple of miles if you have a clear line of sight
