License question for on prem hivemanager

Taking over a site where the Aerohive admin left.  we have 50 Aps and an on-site Hivemanager.

When I take a look at the license information it shows that

Number of Aerohive devices licensed:104
but under Entitlement Key I see about 40 Devices with Expired Entitlement Keys (type Permanent).

So my question is what happens when the Entitlement key Support expires?  What difference if any is there between the licensed devices and entitlement?

Hi Jimmy,

For HiveManager on premise, the licensing for the HiveOS devices are perpetual and will last forever, so even though the licenses for the devices expire, you can still manage them.  However, the HiveManager still requires a current entitlement key otherwise you will get locked out of the HiveManager.

hello Jimmy,

Spencer his answer is correct, when you purchase a license for an Aerohive device for use on an on-premise HiveManager that license is perpetual, it never expires. However your support license needs to be renewed on a 1, 3, or 5 year basis. The support license covers software upgrades, waranty, support etc..
