July 2016 Microsoft Windows Update has created problems connecting/authenticating to our Aerohives (AP350). Is there a resolution to this regarding an Aerohive Setting, without having to uninstall the update?

Can you give some more details about the connecting/authenticating problems your users are facing?

  • Does it happen always, or intermittent?
  • Does it happen for all devices that have KB3172605 installed?
  • You mentioned AP350... do you have other Aerohive models in your network? If yes, does this happen with those as well, or not?
  • Which Hivemanager version are you running?
  • Which HiveOS version are you running?
  • Did you enable 802.11r?
Also, please run the Client Monitor for a client that has the problems, and post the outcome here.

Hi Richard

Are you seeing this on 802.1X SSID?  What client types? Is the AP acting as radius server?

This windows update includes a roll-up of KB3161608 which includes new cipher suites available in ie and edge.

What hiveOS version are you running? I have seen when running older HiveOS versions on AP's some windows supplicants have issues following this update.

I would recommend testing on up to date HiveOS if not already.
