Is there a way to import a list of teachers for Student Manager?

We’re taking a new Aerohive deployment live this fall. Faculty are very excited about Teacher View, but we have to get them set up in Hive Manager before they can use it. We have a faculty of about 75. Is there a way to set them up as teachers without creating each account by hand? We see how to import the students using a CSV file, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to do this with administrator accounts.

Hi James,
The TeacherView application that is included free in HiveManager does not have the ability to import teachers using a csv file; teachers are created using the Administrator user manager GUI and by assigning them the "Teacher" role.

The StudentManager application that runs on a separate VM is designed to scale for multiple-schools and there you can import teachers using a CSV file, or using programatic API calls.

I take the entire faculty is potentially hosting classes requiring to control students' internet access?

Emilio,

Yes, we are completely BYOD for our Middle School and Upper School students (about 400). One of the key questions in this environment is: “How can teachers keep kids on-task when they are using their own devices?” One of our reasons for choosing Aerohive was Student Manager. Every teacher in the school will want to use it.

We’re using HMOL but I’d be willing to deploy something locally if needed.

Thanks!

James,
StudentManager interoperates with HiveManager on-premise. If you are using HMOL and want to keep management on the cloud, then TeacherView would be the way to go. Otherwise, you'd have to go HM on-premise.

We'll look into expanding the functionality for importing teachers in TeacherView.
