I just got a replacement 120 for a device that I had to RMA. It was on 4.1 so I was updating it. I noticed it was 5.1r3a. My other 120's are on 5.1r3. Is there a difference?

Bradley,
Yes, there is a difference. We found an issue with one particular hardware platform software image after the release of 5.1R3, so we fixed and re-released that image and only that image. Use 5.1R3a on your AP121 and AP141 platforms.

Should I update the firmware on my 120's that are on 5.1r3?

Bradley,
My bad for not looking at the list of available images before responding. Yes, as a Product Manager for HiveOS I will almost always recommend that you upgrade to the latest available release image for each product as soon as practical to minimize the likelihood of you encountering a bug that we've already found and fixed.

In this particular instance, if you are pleased with the performance and stability of your AP120s, then leave well enough alone for now. HiveOS 5.1R4 is in final testing and will release in a week or two.

Thanks Mike! I just wanted to make sure they were different images. I'd love to see an option to get an email when new firmware images are uploaded for AP's I manage.

Hi Bradley and Mike,

I concur with you Bradley. Customer or Partner notification of releases would be great.
