I need to know if an access point can be configured so it can be authenticated through a radius server rather than using a local password on an access point.

Are you asking about clients? If so, yes, they can be authenticated via an external RADIUS server by an AP.

This can take place via Captive Web Portal (CWP), MAC address authentication or 802.1X.

I am not asking for the client authentication but the access point authentication itself with radius server.

CLI access is not authenticated by RADIUS, but access to HiveManager can be.

Administrators are generally expected to manage the APs via HiveManager not via the CLI.

Is there any plan to change this?  I like leaving SSH on the AP turned on for troubleshooting, but I'd prefer it not to be a static username/password combination.  We authenticate everything for SSH using radius so everyone has to remember the aerohive devices have a static username/password.

Typically if I'm using the cli it's because the AP won't connect to HM for some reason.
