Does Aerohive have any plans in the future, near or far..., to incorporate iBeacons or Low-Power Bluetooth into their APs?  In addition to enhanced location awareness, it would lend a hand in better retail analytics as well as the ability to trigger events when moving throughout a facility.

Hi Amanda,

As Aerohive and Euclid have integrated their technologies for retail analytics. Must we purchase the iBeacon app and HW from Radius Networks to work with the integrated solution?

It would not make much sense to send beacons from the AP itself, but it is perfectly plausible for there to be integrated Bluetooth 4.0 in a future access point to receive beacons. We will all have to wait to see what comes out. Exciting times! :)

Actually, we came up with a ton of use cases for single iBeacon on an AP.

Example: Small boutique's as part of a larger chain. It tickles an App as you pass store for personalized message. (obviously could add more beacons inside at lower power for smaller radii).

Example2: Conference rooms for checking in and securing the room. "I am here now, please do not unbook me"

There are quite a few more as well. Bottom line, iBeacons everywhere is best use case but single iBeacons for a general location, i.e. "You are near a key place", also good.
