Interfaces missing on AP130

I've just made some changes on Aerohive Manager Classic Software Version:6.8r4

To my surprise while trying to push new config to AP's not all of them were able to take the config, I got the following error:

"Upload configuration: an error occurred when executing the following cli command: interface wifi1 mode access

Unknown error"

We have over 140 access points, all same models running the same version of code (at the bottom of this post)

When ssh-ed into the ap that wouldn't take the config I've noticed that:

AP-09#show interface
State=Operational state; Chan=Channel;
Radio=Radio profile; U=up; D=down;

Name       MAC addr      Mode   State Chan(Width) VLAN   Radio      Hive       SSID
------- -------------- -------- ----- ----------- ---- ---------- ---------- ---------
Mgt0    885b:dd84:7400    -       U     -          231     -       Aerohive      -
Eth0    885b:dd84:7400 backhaul   U     -          112     -       Aerohive      -
Wifi0   885b:dd84:7410 access     U     1(20MHz)     -   2.4GHz       -          -
Wifi0.1 885b:dd84:7414 access     U     1(20MHz)     -   2.4GHz    Aerohive   CORP_WIFI
Wifi0.2 885b:dd84:7415 access     U     1(20MHz)     -   2.4GHz    Aerohive  GUEST_WIFI

 as in opposed to AP's that seem fine

AP06#show interface
State=Operational state; Chan=Channel;
Radio=Radio profile; U=up; D=down;

Name       MAC addr      Mode   State Chan(Width) VLAN   Radio      Hive       SSID

Mgt0    885b:dd82:9380    -       U     -          230     -       Aerohive      -
Eth0    885b:dd82:9380 backhaul   U     -          112     -       Aerohive      -
Wifi0   885b:dd82:9390 access     U    13(20MHz)     -  radio_ng0     -          -
Wifi0.1 885b:dd82:9394 access     U    13(20MHz)     -  radio_ng0  Aerohive   CORP_WIFI

Hi Patryk,

I would advise updating to HiveManager 8.0 and subsequently your APs to HiveOS 6.5r7, seeing if an issue persists or not when you attempt to push a full configuration afterwards.

Thanks,

Nick

This is a new solution, not even fully signed off. Is there a particular reason for this happening on ap130?

Hi,

I would not generally recommend deploying a new solution with close to the original code that shipped with the AP130s.

The particular reason may be that there is a hardware failure in the AP130, but recommend updating to current code before expending further effort troubleshooting and to preclude it being software related.

If there is a hardware failure and the interface remains missing after updating the code, please arrange an RMA.

Cheers,

Nick

You're 5 GHz radio is most likely dead.  No amount of code has ever fixed this in the few instances that I've run across it.

The update is basically returning an error because there is no interface 1 to apply the change commands too.

I'd be real curious though if you do update code and it magically re-appears. :)

I wish we were told about version issue before hand.

Yes Brian like you said, there's no such interface so config can't be applied.

Just trying to upgrade one AP but I'm not getting too far

just a quick update, I wasn't able to upgrade the software on this unit, tried resetting it to factory settings etc but no joy. Unit has been RMA-ed, I can only assume it was hardware problem
