Increase/remove PPPoE username limit.

The PPPoE username is currently limited to 32 characters. The usernames our ISP are giving us are in excess of 32 characters which means we're unable to use PPPoE with Aerohive devices.

Can this limit be increased or removed in future releases? This is a bit of a show stopper for us!

It is too late to make this change in the software release currently in beta, but we should be able to increase this in the next release after that.

Matthias,
Sorry for lack of clarity on my part. At the time I wrote my earlier response, we were just starting the beta for 6.4r1. The change has been completed now and will be present in the release of HiveOS and HiveManager planned for later this spring.

I suspect that early on in the HiveOS design process, 32 characters was considered sufficient for usernames.

I hit a similar limit with usernames in 802.1X / RADIUS. That has long since been fixed and is no longer a concern, rather frustrating at the time.

Good to see this one being sorted too! :)

As a temporary fix I have bought some TP-LINK TL-R470T routers for £26.00. They also have 4 wan ports. They have no issues with Ppoe authentication.

Based on what Mike has said, this should be resolved in the HiveOS 6.6r1 release that is due around June.
