Improving transfer rates

Hello, basically we want to improve transfer rates on a 330AP

Client/user informs of getting better performance (rates) with APs from other vendors (competitors for this project), on simple test FTP transferred 256 MB, with one user connected took 45 secs. but with some more users (less than 20) connected, average time increased to 64 secs.

Can You please advice on how to configure AP so it is possible to achieve better performance.

please see image.

Thank You.

A couple of comments/questions:

  • For speed use 40 MHz wide channels in the 5 GHz spectrum. The 2.4 GHz spectrum is commonly adversely affected by non-WiFi interference and large numbers of neighbouring wireless networks.; all of which can adversely affect wireless performance?
  • Did you enable dynamic airtime scheduling? (Network Policy -> Additional Settings -> QoS Settings)
  • Did you have the SSID broadcast in the 2.4 and 5 GHz spectrums with band steering enabled in "balance band use" mode in the radio policies?
  • Did you disable the 802.11b data rates and enable the "Deny 802.11b clients" option in the radio profile?
  • Did you lower the maximum transmit power in the radio profiles?

Hello, thank You.

We have not enable dynamic airtime scheduling, should We?

(report translated, just in case)

Dynamic airtime scheduling (commonly called airtime fairness) ensures that slower wireless clients do not adversely affect the performance of faster wireless clients with little to no effect on the slower wireless client. Dynamic airtime scheduling is a feature I always enable.

If you have a time sensitive application, such as voice, on the wireless network with dynamic airtime scheduling enabled you need to ensure that the QoS classifier and marker maps (Configuration -> Advanced Configuration -> QoS Policies) are configured correctly.
