Hi Tim... great name! :]

Have you used the scaling tool to appropriately size the map yet? Your screen shot doesn't appear to have the grid lines that will appear by default when this is done.

Normally in my experience, the AP's can not be moved around on the map until it has been scaled. You'll find that tool in the very top right of the page labeled "Scaling Tool"
See here:

Once the map is scaled you shouldn't have a problem relocating the AP's.
If they still don't allow you to move them, check that same area in the top right for an option for "Nodes Locked". This option will lock the AP's in place, which will normally prevent accidental adjustments once you've placed and AP's and are using the map for other things. However, if it is checked, you will see the same symptom.

Let us know if either if these work for you.

Tim Ruda - Thank you for your assistance you were correct in saying that i did not have it scaled. My biggest problem is that i truly do not know how to even go about creating a topology map. Do you know where i can obtain step by step instructions on creating these maps

Hi Tim,

How about a video guide? :]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9KEIL...

Edit:
This was intended for the free planner tool, but the usage will be the same in regard to creating the buildings/floors/walls.

The only part that it may not discuss is how to assign REAL access points to a topology map once you have created it.

You can do so by opening the Monitor tab, checking the AP, and clicking Modify...

And then assigning your created topology map with the drop-down menu, and clicking Save...

And as always, let us know if you run into any issue.

Smart Tim - Thank you for all your help. The video was quite informative but i am still having issues. What i am really trying to accomplish is to place the already existing AP's on a floor plan for monitoring purpose. I have imported a floor plan, scaled it created the offices but when i place a AP i am still unable to move it around. You stated in your first message about "Nodes Lock" i have used went and modified the AP's to be their location. I am including another screenshot - the AP's are not in the proper location and like i stated i am unable to move them. We are using HiveManager 5.1r5a

Tim,

I have seen this problem with some versions of Internet Explorer (9 in particular). Have you tried using Mozilla Firefox? If you don't want to install another browser but want to test this try the Portable Apps version of Mozilla Firefox at http://portableapps.com/apps/internet.... Portable Apps versions of application run completely out of a single folder and don't install any keys in your registry. To remove it just delete the folder.
