How to integrate Active Directory with Captive Web Portals?

We are trying to set up our network so that users are shown a captive portal page, and users are authenticated against Active Directory.

I have searched and searched, but the only documentation I can find for Active Directory related authentication setups are for computers that are a part of the domain.

These wireless clients will not be part of the domain, I just want the captive portal page to authenticate their user credentials against an Active Directory database.

Is there any documentation anywhere to help with setting something like this up?

In order to achieve this you will need to set up a Radius Server first. You can either install NPS/IAS on your Windows Environment or you can utilize an Aerohive AP as a RADIUS Server. Either way there should be some good topics around that in HiveNation

After that the Captive Web Portal (CWP) can be authenticated against the RADIUS Server using the CWP Registration type of User Authentication and selecting the proper Authentication Method (Probably MS CHAPv2).

When you select that CWP Registration Type it will ask you for a RADIUS server configuration (AAA Radius Client) in which you will enter the information of your RADIUS server.

Hope that helps.

Here is a sample screenshot of a configuration that hopefully will help...
