A student lost his iPod. How do I use the HiveManager to locate his lost iPod, assuming that it is on and connected to the wireless network.

I thought I had already answered this, but just found it unanswered on the forum. First, I hope you already have the client iPod MAC address. I believe you can locate it this by navigating to Monitor -> Clients -> Location Watch List. I believe a precondition is that you have created topology maps and placed all your APs on the maps in the correct locations.

To enable location triangulation, you must enable Aerohive Location server in your network policy and push the configuration to your APs.  If three APs or more detect your device, they will triangulate the device position onto the relevant floor map.  Obviously, you would need to set up maps and position APs on the maps, as part of this.

If you do not already have Location Server enabled, or your maps are not set up, you can look through the list of Wireless Clients on the monitor page for the iPad MAC address if you have it, or the device name or user name.  If you see the device, you can see what AP the iPod is associated with.  That would at least give you a starting place for where to start looking.
