Hi Aerohive,

I need to configure SNMP helo , but i don't find a configuration for this.

Only this options is configured:
"Home" tab, "Administration", "Hive Manager Services", and check the box labeled "Update Email Service Settings"
SMTP Server: 10.65.1.114
Port: 25
From Email: myrelayserver@domain.com

With this configuration is not OK, in log show me the error:
<cis.neti@hc.fm.usp.br>: Relay access denied; from=<zabbixservidor.neti@hc.fm.usp.br> to=<cis.neti@hc.fm.usp.br> proto=ESMTP helo=<hivemanager.aerohive.com

In the message the helo is not correct, correct helo is smtp.gmail.com

Would you know where input the helo configuration in Hivamanger  ?

Thanks

The correct EHLO cannot be smtp.gmail.com and there is nothing conceptually wrong with a EHLO of hivemanager.aerohive.com.

(Are you sure that you are not getting things the wrong way around here with the 220 that you get from Google Mail when you talk to its SMTP service?)

To get this working, you will want to:

  • Use SMTP Server smtp.gmail.com
  • Use SMTP Server Port 587
  • Use TLS Encryption
  • Use Authentication with the fully qualified user name (usually email address) and your password.
  • Set the from email to be from your Google Mail address or another address you have authorised Google Mail to use.

Only Google's mail servers when they send email should ever use that HELO/EHLO. There is nothing wrong with the HELO/EHLO that HiveManager sends so your issue is elsewhere.

Looking at the error more closely, are you sure that the mail server(s) for hc.fm.usp.br is not (correctly) preventing other mail servers from sending mail purporting to be from hc.fm.usp.br, especially if unauthenticated or over an insecure channel (no SSL/TLS)?

Conceptually your relay should only be sending email on from an address that uses a domain that you are authorised to use, normally this is a domain that you own/control.

So that I can help triage this for you, where is the bounce originating from?

There is no need to do this - it has almost certainly has nothing whatsoever to do with your issue. Being candid, so please do not take this the wrong way!, I think you are misunderstanding how SMTP and mail severs work.

The name used on a HELO or EHLO is not configurable.  It is an intrinsic part of the SMTP protocol.  The HELO command is the SMTP client identifying itself to the SMTP sever.  Please see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simple_Mail_Transfer_Protocol#SMTP_transport_example

In this case, hive manager, is sending a correct HELO, of: HELO hivemanager.aerohive.com.   This is because the SMTP client, is hive manager, and not Google.

Judging by your error message, the SMTP server (relay) is refusing to accept messages from hive manager.  I suspect you will need to configure your SMTP server to allow messages from hive manager.
