I want to be able to go into the CLI, not directly connecting to the AP, and change the hostname / other aspects of the AP. How is this done? An interface command to go into the AP or . . . ?

Yes, I understand the command, but what do I type after I connect to the CLI? Not connecting to the AP, but via ssh or telnet into the Aerohive HIvemanager CLI. Is there an interface or something like that to go under?

ie. on cisco you would do interface fa0/1   etc etc

If you can do it from the HIvemanager under Monitor tab > check AP > Configure, then there obviously is a command or interface to go under for each AP right?

So what is the command for, Clicking the AP you want, and then typing the hostname, then clicking save?

For Cisco, the transcribed into CLI would be:

Enable
Config Terminal
Interface Fa0/1  (Fast Ethernet Port 1)

Then you'd type all your configurations for that port / device / whatever you want on that specific line, right?

So is it the same for Aerohive CLI? Is there virtual interfaces used as placeholders for the program to go into each AP and automagically push AP config commands  via what you type and select on Aerohive Manager?

(Selecting to change the hostname on Hivemanager, makes the program send to the via CLI or SSH, whatever, "Hostname ___ " ?)

Or is there an actual way Hivemanager configures the Hostname and such directly from it's CLI on it's own from what you type into the hostname options?

You cannot configure an AP from the CLI interface of your HiveManager.  Only via the GUI or the CLI/GUI of the AP directly.  Any change made via the CLI/GUI of the AP directly can and would be overwritten by the NMS (HiveManager) if you were to push any changes to the gear from it.

Where do you upload the .csv file? Do the logs show up in the CLI or are printed elseware?

See below.  Under unmanaged Devices section and Device Inventory.  Import lets you use the .csv file.
