How can I improve the range on my Wi-Fi setup?

Hello. I recently moved into a three-story townhouse, and I want to improve the signal from my Linksys wireless router so that each area of the floors we can get a decent signal (some area are either too weak or nonexistent). It would be great if I could get the signal from my yard as well. What is the best location to place the router in? Is there hardware or software that I can use to improve the signal? There is one shared wall in our unit. What special considerations should I be aware of in terms of security? Thank you.

Have you looked into Googles WFi. You get 3 access points. This would cover all 3 floors. Or look at a high end Netgear Nighthawk.

This would be more of a placement, hardware, and security question.  As Michael said Google's Wifi would be a good consideration.  You would want to be sure to place it in a more central location on your side of the unit.  A good consideration on security would be to use a hidden SSID, MAC filtering, and a strong encryption key (and do not use WEP)

I contacted an internet service freelancer. After consulting my problem entire half day, he said I should buy a new wireless router
Plus, he suggested me to choose one wireless router in his website. here it is: https://gearupz.com/best-wireless-routers/
I can realize this is an affiliate website. Should I buy a new one router as he said to me? Or I should keep using my old router Please give me your recommendation. I'll appreciate it
Thank you very very much

You can buy Aerohive gear on eBay for little of nothing and hook it up to the free connect.
