HM IP DHCP option

we got a bunch of AP that didn't use the vendor class identifier "AEROHIVE" but "UDHCP 0.9.9-pre" instead.

so the configured option with the vendor class identifier AEROHIVE doesn't match so the 226 option isn't pushed to the AP.

Does we have to configure a vendor class identifier in our DHCP with the "UDHCP 0.9.9-pre" identifier with the same 226 option to make it work ?

we also have AP with "AEROHIVE" identifier on the same subnet but can we have both configured vendor specific option configured on the same dhcp scope ?

thanks for your help.

It sounds like you are running a mix of older and newer versions of HiveOS. The older versions used an ID of "UDHCP 0.9.9-pre", and mis-used DHCP site-specific options 224-229 for the various return attributes they would look for.

The newer versions of HiveOS use an ID of "AEROHIVE", ignore DHCP options 224-229, and look for the vendor-specific options with sub-options 224-229.

You can configure both within your DHCP server, so that regardless of which AP makes a DHCP request, both sets of options are returned, and the AP will use the ones that apply to it.

Or, you can upgrade your older devices to the newest releases of HiveOS, and only use the vendor-specific options.
