HiveOS control file missing error when updating to 6.0 on Branch Routers only - not APs

Hello,

We are getting an error when updating BR200-WP's to 6.0. This is the error...
Upload Configuration: The HiveOS version control file (BR200-WP 5.1.5.0) is missing. Please contact Aerohive Technical Support for assistance.
The configuration generation error might have been caused by a HiveManager software upgrade or configuration restoration.
Update User Database: The upload operation was aborted because a previous process failed.

The AP's to update fine however.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I thought that 6.0r2 was required for the APs and BRs, and it is not out yet...?

Do you mean that you are using HiveManager 6.0 and it cannot update a BR to 5.1r5? I assume 5.1.5.0 probably stands for 5.1r5.

I assume that you will need to contact technical support as the error suggests.

Hi Frank,
Yes, 6.0r1 doesn't support 5.1r5 - while this would seem very unusual (and it is), it is because 5.1r5 was released after 6.0r1 and had some configuration changes in it. 6.0r2 which releases friday supports 6.0r2. For future reference, this is in the release notes, however with this circumstance it is understandable that this would come as a surprise.

We don't do this very often, sorry about the confusion.

Will users be able to request a move to 6.0r2 for HMOL on the Friday? :)

Ahh...didn't go through the release notes thoroughly and did assume the 6 before the 5. I look forward to the 6.0r2 release.

Thanks

Well, the vast majority of the time it works the way you assumed... That is the nice thing about a single release train.

@nick, yup. It is a cool release but has a slightly higher bug count than usual, just so you know. The release notes cover the deets. A maintenance release will follow shortly.

I am certainly really itching to having a play, but happy to wait if it is the right thing to do. I assume we can upgrade HMOL and just selected APs to 6.0r2 to test things leaving the others at 5.1r5?

As you might have read, we are having issues with mapping RADIUS Filter-Id AVPs in the Access-Accept to a user profile, whereby it fails sporadically, and have to push a complete configuration at an afflicted AP to temporarily correct the issue. It is a bit like playing whack-a-mole though and I want to see if the issue reproduces in 6.0r2.

Are you able to give a rough/ballpark estimate of how long 'shortly' might be?

Thanks! :)

Nick,
Your assumptions about mixed versions deployed across your APs and BRs is correct, we will support that.

The 6.0R2 code should be available for customer downloads next week. The following maintenance release schedule hasn't been firmed up quite yet, but we will probably bring it out within a month.
