HiveOS Virtual Appliance configured as a layer 3 VPN device

I'm testing the Branche office solution with the BR200-W. I'm using the Branch On Demand Evaluation Guide as my guide for the setup. At some point I have to choose the HiveOS virtual appliance from the VPN Gateway dropdown box. The dropdownbox is empty at my hive. According the Note at this section of the manual, I have to configure the HiveOS Virtual Appliance as a layer 3 VPN device. Can anyone help with this one (I searched a lot but can not find a proper solution).

Thx!!

Is the HiveOS virtual Appliance actually added to your hivemanager already? And if you select it and modify from the monitor or configuration page, are you able to configure it as a Cloud VPN Gateway (CVG)?

From the moment you have configured the HiveOS virtual Appliance to act as a layer 3 VPN Gateway, you are able to select it as the CVG in your Network Policy.

It's a bit hidden, but you can actually download HiveOS virtual appliance from withing Hivemanager:

See the last menu item. Install it on your Vmware cluster (it has to be inside your network!) and continue the configuration as Sjoerd mentioned.

You'll need an activation key for the HiveOS VM, which will generate a serial number. You'll also need an entitlement key, for your VHM, so that the HiveOS VM can be registered to it. Best is to ask your Aerohive reseller for an evaluation key.

NOTE: Be sure to mention if you have HMOL or your on HMVA. The licensing for HiveOS Virtual Appliance are different!!

Hi, Hans. I just thought I'd mention that there's also detailed instructions for setting up a HiveOS Virtual Appliance as a Layer 3 VPN gateway in the deployment guide available here: http://www.aerohive.com/330000/docs/help/english/documentation/AerohiveDeploymentGuide_330002-22.pdf

If you're interested, see chapter 3. It might make a nice second reference.
