hivemanger 6.6 not available?

Hi all,

Running HM 6.5R2 , AP 370s and AP230s.

HM OS 6.6 release notes mention specific fixes for AP230s. so I'd like to upgrade HM to 6.6.

Within Hive Manager Operations, 'Update Software' reports that we are on the latest version and 6.6 files seem to have disappeared from the download site, is there a problem with it or is the site being updated?
I have a HM file version 6.6r1-64b from July but I am loathe to install it in case there is a problem.
Just to be sure, I believe that though the AP370s will not be supported by the 6.6 track, I would still be able to manage them with HM 6.6, is that the case?

Also, on a side note I believe 6.5r3 was due last week, any news on that?

Regards, Kevin.

Hi Kevin,

HiveOS 6.5r3 is finished. It is available now via HM-NG along with HiveOS 6.6r2.
It should be available during this week for those with classic HM in the usual places, along with an update to HM.

You will likely want to run HiveOS 6.5r3 on all your APs and not HiveOS 6.6r2.

Regards,

Nick

Hi Nick, ive been running 6.6r1 since it has been released, would you recommend upgrade to 6.6r2 or 6.5r3 ? Or will both be possible to upgrade to from the HiveOS i currently have?

Hi Volkan,

I'd generally recommend going to 6.5r3 unless there are some 'must have' features in 6.6r2.

If you are not making use of any, you are likely to find 6.5r3 more stable.

Yes, both will be possible.

Just to clarify a few things regarding HiveManager 6 and the forthcoming upgrade:

The new HiveManager version is 6.6r3.
With this version, you will be able to choose between HiveOS 6.5r3 and 6.6r2.
For the majority of our customers we recommend HiveOS 6.5r3.

Thanks for the feedback.

Sorry to come back but I don't have an answer to my main question, where can I actually get the HM 6.6R3 software, it doesn't show when I try to upgrade and it isn't on the ftp site.

I am running 6.5r2 ...

Also, as the HiveOS 6.6 release notes specifically mention an intermittent DHCP problem for AP230s, so wouldn't you recommend it for that model?

No, HiveOS 6.5r3 is the better release for the AP230 at this point.

Andrew, do you have a date/time for release of 6.5r3 for HMOL?

Thanks again to Nick for the offer of help.

Just had a chance to look at this again, Hive Manager 6.6 is now (slightly confusingly) on the ftp site under 6.5r3, together with releases of HiveOS 6.5r3.

Thanks all.

Thanks for the warning but there are several fixes in 6.6r1b that relate specifically to AP 230s, which are about half our estate.
If I could be sure 6.5r3 also fixed these I'd try it, but I can't find the release notes .... any idea where I can find them? It shouldn't be this hard :-(

I am not going to specifically say weather you should or shouldn't update but here is where you find the files. We ran into the same problem. Log into your support portal support.aerohive.com, go to Software Downloads, HiveManager 6 Releases, HiveManager Version 6.6, 6.6r3, HiveManager 6 Software, then pick the appropriate download for your environment. For the HiveOS for AP's select HiveOS Releases from the Software Downloads, then HiveOS Version 6.6, etc.

Thanks Aaron.
Good point, I haven't managed to get access to the support portal yet, I'll try again! Did you get the 6.5r3 release notes, I have the OS image just not the 6.5r3 Release Notes? I don't understand why they don't seem to be available on the doc page :-(
Getting support in the UK seems to be problematic ...
