HiveOS and HiveManager 6.1r1 is now available on HMOL as of today, Tuesday, June 25th. As always, we will monitor acceptance and reported issues on 6.1r1 before we fly the bee to enable automatic upgrading to 6.1r1 on HMOL. Until this time please make the request to upgrade by either opening a support case (for direct support customers) or through your Aerohive Partner.

We are also pleased to announce a number of enhancements to the MyHive Portal. One thing you will notice is that your MyHive login page will have a fresh new look.

After logging into this page, you will notice a newly designed MyHive dashboard with prominent links to both HiveManager and ID Manager.

Please note that if you are running HiveManager Online version 6.1r1, you will no longer see a link to the Redirector on the MyHive dashboard. Instead, you will now be able to add and manage your Aerohive devices directly from HiveManager. You can access these enhancements by clicking the Add button from the Configuration > Devices or Monitor > Devices sections in HiveManager.

"Add" Functionality under Monitor > Devices:

"Add" Functionality under Configuration > Devices:

If you are running HiveManager Online versions prior to 6.1r1, you can still access the Redirector from the MyHive dashboard.

If you have purchased ID Manager, our cloud-based guest management solution, the ID Manager Go button takes you directly into the ID Manager interface. If you haven't purchased ID Manager and are running HiveManager Online version 5.1r5 and above, you will see a button to request a free trial of ID Manager.

We hope you will find these MyHive portal enhancements useful, as we continually strive to enhance your overall Aerohive experience.

For questions or to see more details about these changes or the new HiveManager 6.1r1 release please see the previous post regarding the release of 6.1r1 here or contact us at http://www.aerohive.com/support.

If you have specific questions about version 6.1r1 of HiveOS or HiveManager Online, please start a new thread so we can handle unique questions individually.

I'm kinda wishing I'd waited to upgrade my VM, it decided to hang on starting Tomcat. :-(

Dave,

If the HiveManager is sitting on "Starting Tomcat..." then it is still restoring the configuration from the previous version.

To check the status of the restore process, SSH into the HiveManager to access the CLI (or access via the VMware console) and navigate through the prompts to "3) Advanced Product Configuration > 1) Configure HiveManager > 16) Display HM Update/Restore Progress" to access the back-end monitor. This will show you line-by-line as the HiveManager restores each component of the database.

Paul,

You can find the "Add" button on both the Monitor and Configuration views, see the screenshots below:

Hmm...its displaying
"no update or restore operation." in a steady stream.

Something tells me I'm gonna need to open a support case for this one.

Hi Dave,

It sounds like that may be the best path, if you really have run into an issue while upgrading it would be difficult to troubleshoot on this forum. If so, support should be able to assist you or otherwise resolve the issue by pointing out what is going on with your HiveManager.

Either way, as you seem to have an on-premise HiveManager; it may be more appropriate to start a new thread as this is an announcement regarding the availability of HiveManager Online. Combining the two may be confusing for users.

Thanks,
Brian

Turns out I just wasn't patient enough for it. The upgrade ended up completing after about 3 hours and we're good to go now.

Hi Paul,

It sounds to me like you have an on-premise HiveManager. If so, the Add functionality described above does not apply as there is no Redirector built into the standalone HiveManager platform. There are a number of ways to manage devices locally, please see the following thread for more information here. In this thread I describe in detail the best ways to bring our branch routers into the HiveManager, but you may also take advantage of our online help which can be located within your HiveManager.

If you need more assistance and you are indeed running an on-premise HiveManager, I would recommend opening a new thread; this would be more appropriate as this is an announcement regarding the availability of HiveManager Online. Combining the two may be confusing for users.

Thanks,
Brian
