HiveManager Update - Starting TomCat

I believe this issue has been addressed before, however a definitive answer has not been given. I am currently attempting to update HiveManager to the latest version. All seems to have been going well until it reaches the "Staring Tomcat..." phase of the install. It just seems to be sitting there, which doesn't instil a lot of confidence as it has been this way for over an hour. I seem to remember the last time I upgraded it took this long as well...can anyone provide any insight?

This happens to me as well, it has happened with the last 3 or 4 upgrades I have done.  I am at 6.6r3 now.  Other than my experience with it, I unfortunately don't have any helpful info other than you are not alone.

This will happen with an on-premise HiveManager when you have a very large number of events in the event log and you perform a "Full Update", which preserves all this event data.

In order for the upgrade to easily accommodate database schema changes (or indeed a complete change in the underlying database softare if necessary!) between versions, the entire configuration and event/alarm database gets exported to an XML file and then re-imported into the database after the upgrade and this process can take well over an hour if you have hundreds of thousands of events. If you don't need to retain the events, then clearing the prior to performing the upgrade (using the radio button "Update and clear the alarm and event logs") should make the upgrade take much less time (typically around 10-15 minutes depending on the size of the configuration).

If you are seeing the upgrade take this long and you ARE selecting to clear the alarm and event logs, then something is awry - in my experience of having performed dozens of upgrades at different customers, provided this option is taken, the upgrade only takes around 10-15 minutes to complete.

Note that you can also limit the amount of historical data that is stored generally in HiveManager in Report Settings.
