I believe we have a faulty branch router. Everything seems to connect ok via IP, but seems to fail at the DNS level. For the life of me I cant find the command to try and resolve DNS from the branch router. Any help appreciated. Thanks Mark

ping will resolve a DNS name:
AH-abcdef#ping
<ip_addr>   Enter the destination IP address
<string>    Enter the destination domain name (1-32 chars)

show dns will show your current configuration:

AH-abcdef#show dns
DNS server configuration:
Domain name suffix:
Primary   : 208.67.222.222
Secondary : 208.67.220.220
Tertiary  : 0.0.0.0

Sorry my fault I mistyped - I meant is there a way of doing an nslookup? I'm basically trying to find out if a BR has DNS working properly on it. Thanks for your help

Well, ping will result in a lookup being performed, is that failing?
I know it's not the same as a nslookup. I don't think there is such a command available at the CLI.

Perhaps a better question is for me to ask you what it is that is making you think that DNS isn't working so that I can give you some constructive suggestions?

I you think it's DNS, I'd be minded to look at some packet captures to see what's going on.

It is rather unlikely that a hardware fault would cause DNS to fail.

Thanks again for your response. basically we can ping the branch router and ping the APs connected to it, but its not resolving back to the on-line hivemanager, so I thought it was pointing at a DNS issue. What's even more confusing is that the APs appear t be working ok. Thanks
