Forcing User Profile Update

I have a device that was being assigned a specific user profile. I just added another assignment rule for this device, but it is holding onto the old user profile. I.e it use to have our staff mobile device profile assigned and now I have a mac address assignment rule applying it to the Faculty user profile, but I can't get it to update to the new user profile. Is there a way to force this to occur? I deleted the IP in our DHCP server, but that didn't work. Thanks!

Hi Justin,

From what you've described, the client has disconnected/reconnected and still remains on the wrong profile? If yes and the assignment rule is not being appliedĀ it would suggest that either the incorrect MAC address is specified in the assignment rule (I trust you've checked this though) or the assignment rule simply isn't being used.

It could be that you have multiple assignment rules that are conflicting? Can you confirm? For example. If you have one user profile being assigned to the client via one assignment rule but you have another assignment rule pointing the client to another profile, only one of those rules will 'win'.

Lastly, I would suggest pushing out a full configuration update - this will erase the running-config and re-apply all commands issued by HiveManager.

Kind regards,

Nathaniel

Nathaniel,

I have triple checked the MAC address and have the MAC address rule above another rule that would push this device into it's old user profile (Mobile Staff Devices). I have had this happen in that past where the HiveManager just holds onto the previous config and won't put the device into the new userprofile. I've had the same issue on Mac devices. I pushed out a full config as well, with now luck. Thanks for the help.

Best,

Justin
