Wouldn't it be nice to make it possible to change MAC address of a specific AP.

When an AP need to be replaced you can update the MAC address in HM so new AP loads exact config of previous AP.

Hi Steven, why wouldn't you simply push the config from HiveManager down to the new AP? Am I overlooking something? :)

You cant push down changes to specific SSIDs being removed from certain radios on an AP. Nor can you push down IP info if you are simply replacing a faulty AP with a new one. All those AP specific settings would need to be manually modified to mimic the previous AP.

Hi Sarah,

As Brian mentioned, APs can have some specific settings.
When replacing an AP it would be nice to just change MAC address in the configuration and apply all settings to the new AP.

Steven.

Thanks Sarah. As I know of at least one wireless vendor that has this capability in their solution. Just requiring you to tell the system the old MAC address and the new MAC address and the device specific settings are migrated over automatically.
