mgt0 is the interface attached to the management VLAN. The management VLAN is for management traffic between Aerohive devices and HiveManager and control traffic among hive members. Types of management and control traffic include CAPWAP, GRE, NTP, SCP, SSH, SNMP, Telnet, TFTP, and Aerohive Cooperative Control messages.

eth0 is a physical interface and is (typically) the backhaul interface for the device. It carries the mgt0 traffic as well as traffic from each of the SSIDs or other "downstream" interfaces.

Does this make sense?
